July is peak season for numbers. Beats below the falls fish best in June; above from mid-June.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Catch:<\/strong> Normally 3,000\u20136,000 salmon per season. Regulation provides stable water levels in dry summers, but certain beats are closed to salmon fishing.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Tributaries:<\/strong> Inna, Byna, Grana and Resa are among the most important.<\/li>\n        <\/ul>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"hf-lakseelver-block\">\n        <h3>Salmon fishing and catches<\/h3>\n        <ul>\n          <li><strong>Season:<\/strong> 1 June \u2013 31 August. Large salmon (over 10 kg) are most often taken in the first weeks of June. Mid-June brings medium salmon (3\u20137 kg); from July, smaller salmon are present throughout the river.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Catch:<\/strong> Normally around 25 tonnes per season \u2013 Orkla regularly ranks among Norway's three best salmon rivers.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Record salmon:<\/strong> Largest recorded fish is 25 kg.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Fishing licence:<\/strong> Purchased via Elveguiden. Catch report must include date, beat, species, sex, weight, length and gear.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Quotas 2026:<\/strong> Normally 1 salmon per season. Can be extended to 3 male salmon over 65 cm after mid-season evaluation 1\u20132 July if spawning stock exceeds 130% of target. Quota breach results in 2-year ban and a fine of NOK 6,000.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Smolt improvement:<\/strong> Guide fence at Bj\u00f8rsetdammen completed in 2025 \u2013 significantly reduces smolt mortality at Svorkmo power plant.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Access:<\/strong> Orkanger is 30 min from Trondheim via E39. Approx. 15\u201320 min from Hindrum Fjordsenter.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"hf-lakseelver-content-grid\">\n      <div class=\"hf-lakseelver-block\">\n        <h3>Geography and course<\/h3>\n        <ul>\n          <li><strong>Location:<\/strong> Rissa in Indre Fosen municipality, Tr\u00f8ndelag. The river flows westward toward the Trondheim Fjord and runs parallel to the main road for most of its length \u2013 easy access to most of the course.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Character:<\/strong> A fine small salmon river \u2013 sheltered but never far from the road. Scenic and peaceful. Not a large-river experience, but excellent opportunities for a memorable fishing trip.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Facilities:<\/strong> Fishing shelters along the river. Forra is particularly beautiful and recommended for morning trips.<\/li>\n          <li><strong>Character:<\/strong> Easy to read \u2013 alternating short rapids and interesting pools. Well suited to fly fishing, particularly in the middle and upper sections.<\/li>\n        <\/ul>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"hf-lakseelver-block\">\n        <h3>Salmon fishing and catches<\/h3>\n        <ul>\n          <li><strong>Season:<\/strong> 1 June \u2013 31 August.
