A longer day hike from the fjord to the mountain
Kjerringklumpen is a longer hike of around 13 km round trip in the area above Hindrum and Hindrem. The hike can be started from Hindrum Fjordsenter or from Revelltun , depending on which route and starting direction suits the hike best.
The route leads from fjord-side landscape up through forest, heathland and more open mountain terrain. This is a clearly more demanding hike than Spranget, the Fairytale Trail and Borgen, and best suited for guests with a reasonable level of fitness, good footwear and enough time for a relaxed day hike in Norway.
Kjerringklumpen as a hiking destination
The destination of the hike is Kjerringklumpen , 601 metres above sea level. From the summit you get wide views over the Trondheim Fjord, Hindrum, Hindrem and the landscape further into the Fosen peninsula.
The trail is marked, but the terrain requires more attention than the shorter hikes in the area. There are steeper sections, and after rain the mountain ground, roots and wet trail surfaces can become slippery. Plan the hike according to the weather, available daylight and your own fitness level, and bring enough water, food and clothing for changing conditions.
