Hiking trip poster Hindrumsetra 12km one way by Hindrum Fjordsenter Norway

This 12.7 km long trip takes you through a one-way route from Reveltun up to Hindrumsetra summerfarm log cabin, a seat with roots dating back to the early 1700, without modern conveniences such as electricity or water. The path takes you through the majestic Skaret, passes Hindrumsetra and ends at the car park in Rian. The distance to Hindrumsetra is approximately 9 km. You have the choice between making this a round trip and returning the same way or going to Rian, where you can possibly be picked up by car. This trip not only provides a physical challenge, but also a deeper connection with Norway’s cultural and natural heritage.

The path is well marked throughout the walk, but extra care is required, especially after rainfall when the path can become slippery. Although the walk contains steep sections and is somewhat more demanding than shorter options, it is still achievable for most people of average fitness.

Along the trails, a visual feast opens up for the soul, where mountain water acts as a mirror for the impressive nature that surrounds you. These trails also give you the chance to experience the unique and varied wildlife and rich flora that characterize the mountain areas. The bog landscapes create a contrast to the robust mountains, and here you can enjoy the special atmosphere that characterizes these vulnerable but important ecosystems.

History comes alive when you pass old houses along the paths. These centers bear witness to Norway’s rich cultural heritage in mountain agriculture and cottage culture. Walking through these areas gives you the opportunity to imagine how people lived and worked here in the past, and you can follow in the footsteps of those who came before us.
