Hindrumsetra is a long one-way route of around 13 km from the fjord area up toward historic mountain farm landscape. The hike can be started from Hindrum Fjordsenter or from Revelltun , depending on which starting direction and logistics suit you best.
The route passes through forest, valley sections and more open mountain terrain before reaching Hindrumsetra. This is a clearly longer and more demanding hike than the shorter routes near the fjord, and best suited for guests with plenty of time, good footwear and a reasonable level of fitness.
Hindrumsetra as a hiking destination
The destination of the hike is Hindrumsetra , a historic mountain farm with a cabin from around 1700. The cabin has no electricity or running water, and the place offers a simple encounter with local mountain farm history and the older use of the highland areas above Hindrum in Norway.
The trail is marked, but the hike requires planning and respect for the conditions. Weather, wet ground and slippery rock faces can make certain sections more demanding. Allow plenty of time, and consider arranging a pick-up or transport if you are not returning by the same route.
