From the first pedal stroke, you notice how the landscape opens with new perspectives: paths that wind between burial mounds and old buildings, forest roads that lead to heights where history still rests in the stones. Two of our destinations are perfect for cyclists who want to combine exercise with history. The easy 4km trip to Amborneset takes you to a landscape where 80 burial mounds once dominated the terrain – here you can stop, rest and feel the echo from Iron Age people. For the adventurous awaits a spectacular 8km route to Borgen, the old village fortress from the Migration Period, where parts of the trail have become a fairytale path thanks to Jostein Finseråsen’s chainsaw art. His wood sculptures appear as surprises along the route and create a unique blend of ancient mysteries and modern craftsmanship.
